Biosphere Reserve Großes Walsertal
Just a few meters from Damüls begins the Great Walser Valley, a natural jewel in Vorarlberg that is second to none. This region was awarded the title "Biosphere Reserve" by UNSESCO in 2000 . Biosphere parks (biosphere reserves) are so-called model regions for sustainable living and management. The biosphere reserve concept is an international protection and development instrument for regions with exceptional natural and cultural landscapes. The people in the region play a central role in this. They are invited to play an active role in the protection and development of their habitat.
"Use nature without harming it". This is the motto of the Großes Walsertal Biosphere Reserve. In different parts of the world, they are looking for regional answers to the questions of how a balanced relationship between the protection of natural resources and the needs of people can be created today and in the future.
