In the landscape parks of 18th and 19th century England, it was customary to employ a decorative hermit who, in exchange for payment but under ascetic conditions, studied religious or philosophical writings, reflected on life and death, and was available to converse with passing guests.
At Benny's, the whole thing has an artistic perspective, but here too, everyone is invited to come by and take a look. Benny Omerzell, a versatile artistic free spirit, has known the Bregenzerwald since birth. For VorOrt, he travels to the higher reaches of the valley, more precisely to Damüls at over 1,300 metres, where the Walser people once cultivated the land as ‘free farmers on free soil’, and collects acoustic and visual fragments and atmospheres, which he will merge into an audiovisual Gesamtkunstwerk. He will present this in a solo performance in the Damüls parish stable.
The Pfarrstall is part of the historic vicarage, which has been carefully and resource-efficiently converted and now houses the ski museum. The former stable provides space for fine cultural events.
